About Kev'Laa
Kev’Laa is the artist project of Kevin Allmark, an independent electronic artist, producer, songwriter and content creator from the North West of England.
A lifelong clubber shaped by the UK’s progressive and underground dance culture, Kev’Laa creates concept-led electronic music that moves between house, trance, techno, acid, ambient and deeper cinematic territory. Some releases are built for dark dance floors, others are reflective and emotional, while a few exist simply because the original idea was too ridiculous not to turn into a record.
Before focusing on music, he worked across financial services, strategy design, behavioural science and AI innovation. That unconventional background now feeds into a catalogue that is part club music, part storytelling, part emotional release and, occasionally, part comedy experiment taken far more seriously than anyone reasonably expected.
Inspiration can come from real experiences, films, football, science fiction, pop culture, terrible puns or the ongoing chaos involving his cats, Hugo and Lola. AI is used as part of a wider creative toolkit, helping Kev’Laa develop musical ideas, artwork, animation and connected visual worlds without replacing the human direction behind them.
Recent and developing projects include multilingual remakes created for listeners beyond the UK, The Kraken EP, and new video content that is bringing selected tracks from his back catalogue back to life. Together, these projects are expanding the wider Kev’Laa Universe: a growing collection of music, characters, stories and visuals that can be deep, funny, strange or somewhere between all three.
Working independently, Kev’Laa remains involved throughout each release, from songwriting and production to distribution, rights administration, catalogue management, visual content and promotion.

From the dance floor to the studio
Before focusing seriously on releasing music, Kev’Laa spent years immersed in electronic music as a clubber.
While studying at the University of Liverpool, he became part of the late-1990s and early-2000s UK club scene, attending nights at Cream and experiencing the progressive house, trance, techno and rave sounds that continue to influence his work.
He has travelled to club nights and festivals all over the UK and beyond following some of his favourite DJs and artists.
That era shaped his approach to music: long builds, emotional atmosphere, strong grooves and moments designed to make sense on a dance floor.
Kev’Laa does not try to recreate the past. Instead, he brings those influences into a modern production process, combining classic club instincts with contemporary sounds, digital tools and unusual creative concepts.
The Kev’Laa Universe
Music and visuals are developed together as part of an expanding collection of characters, stories and connected worlds.
Recurring figures such as Hugo, Lola, Terminator Cat, Disco Goose, Mr Whippy and other creations appear across artwork, videos, visualisers and short-form content.
This approach means a release is rarely treated as just an audio file. It can become a complete concept with cover art, animation, characters, alternative versions and its own visual identity.
The Kev’Laa Universe is intentionally unpredictable. One release may be a dark progressive club track, while the next could feature piano-led emotion, sci-fi comedy or a cat starting a small domestic war.
A modern independent creative process
Kev’Laa combines songwriting, creative direction and electronic production with AI-assisted music and visual tools.
Technology is part of the process, but it does not replace the ideas behind the work. Kev’Laa develops the concepts, writes lyrics, directs the mood, chooses the arrangements and shapes each release through repeated experimentation.
This allows ideas to move quickly between music, artwork and video while keeping a consistent creative identity.
His background in strategy, financial services, AI innovation and behavioural science also influences the way projects are developed. Tracks are approached not only as songs, but as complete creative systems involving sound, story, audience, visuals and promotion.
Independent by design
Kev’Laa independently manages his releases, catalogue records, rights registrations, visual content and promotion.
This includes overseeing distribution, metadata, artwork, music databases, royalty registrations and the wider presentation of the artist project.
He is also beginning to work with other independent artists through collaborations, remix ideas and creative partnerships.
The aim is not to follow one genre, formula or release strategy. It is to keep experimenting, improve with every project and build a catalogue that feels recognisably Kev’Laa.

Kev’Laa makes electronic music rooted in club culture but shaped by humour, imagination, emotion and everyday life.
Sometimes it is dark. Sometimes it is uplifting. Sometimes it involves a cat, a monster or an extremely questionable pun.
